A walk inside the Westbank in Palestine during May 2018.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, between 30 March and 15 May 2018, at least 110 Palestinians were killed while protesting during the "Great March of Return". Of these, at least 29 were members of various Palestinian militant groups. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) fired tear gas and live ammunition at protestors. As of 19 June 2018, more than 13,000 Palestinians had been wounded in Gaza and the Westbank, the majority severely; some 1,400 had been struck by three or more bullets. No Israelis were physically harmed from 30 March through 12 May when an IDF soldier was slightly wounded on 14 May - the day that protests peaked, alongside 59 or 60 Palestinians shot dead at twelve separate clash points along Gaza's border fence. Hamas claimed 50 of those shot dead as its militants; Islamic Jihad claimed three of the 62 killed as members of its military wing.
35,000 Palestinians took part in a protest against the Israeli blockade on 14 June 2018. They approached the fence that separates Gaza from Israel as other Border Crossings, where many were killed or injured by Israeli troops. The United Nations condemned Israel's use of deadly force and human rights organizations complained about the deaths and injuries.
